Jennie and Logan are pug parents, dancers and musicians, have a love for the outdoors, tattoos and gages, a fantastic fashion sense, love good (and cheap) beer, and have ardent ties to their families that are evident through enduring family songs and correlating tattoos among the brothers and cousins. They also have a deep love and appreciation for each other, but not in an ‘also’ kind of way. Jennie and Logan are the new classic love story in that they met online. OK Cupid, to be precise. They had both gone through terrible breakups and found each other at just the right time. I love to *think* that timing doesn’t play a role in the love we find, but thankfully, it does.
Jennie and Logan came to me in November 2019 and told me of their grand plans to get married in 2020 (cue looming, ominous music)- they had arranged to travel to Santorini and exchange vows in a secluded location, just the two of them (and their photographer). Their plan, along with countless other couple’s plans, started to shift when they realized that planning even the intimate celebration they wanted to have with their loved ones once they came back from Greece was going to be difficult to achieve if not completely out of the question. So they pivoted.
The venue they had initially chosen for their family wedding celebration canceled about a month before their date. I suggested they get in touch with Marlowe at the Griffin House in Hood River and things fell into place from there. Jennie and Logan even had to change their wedding date.
On their wedding day, Logan’s mother gave Jennie Logan’s grandmother’s bracelet to wear; the four other brides that married Giacomini men in 2020 wore the same bracelet on their wedding days. The limited weddings guests clearly had overwhelming love for these two, as can be seen in their expressions during the ceremony and after.
The weather this October day was windy and moody. Moody in the way that rained threatened us the whole day, we embraced the idea of being soggy, and it finally came down when we went undercover for their tiny yet beautifully curated celebratory dinner with their nearest and dearest.
One of the thoughts I took away from this day was one I’ve had a thousand times but will always need help in being reminded in my daily life — whatever happens, happens. It will be perfect because it’s yours. Part of your story. Seeing this unpredictable day play out and all the planning that was thrown out and redirected that lead up to it was something special, and very much needed.
I asked Jennie what stood out to her from the day and she said, “Definitely ceremony stood out because the WIND!!! … I knew it could be windy but I was definitely not expecting that much wind. I was thinking today about how a lot of brides say they were so stressed the day of and felt pulled away … during the wedding and didn’t get to enjoy themselves….. and I had the like 100% opposite experience. I am so glad about it.”
The song that played them out to their nighttime bubble send-off was American Pie, the family song. The song was Logan’s grandmother’s favorite.
